  • What does this icon mean, and what do I need to do about it?

Google Pixel 8a running Android 14. An icon of a red square containing a white exclamation mark appeared at the top of my smartphone screen. It was there for a while (weeks), then disappeared, and now it is back. I don’t know what it means, and I can’t figure out if there is something I need to do about it. Everything seems to be operating normally. If you can point me in a direction, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.

    Hello Jim,

Does it look like the one in this article here, if so then Your ‘Switch-Access’ in accessibility is activated. Go into settings and deactivate it & the red box with an exclamation mark will go away.
