  • Problem with Mouse in Windows 10

Have an advertising and design agency in the Austin area and experiencing some issues with my mouse. I am having issues with a 64bit Windows 10 Pro (all updates) and CorelDraw 2020 and even in earlier versions, my mouse frequently stops working. I can select items, but I am unable to drag or move them. When that happens, I lose mouse function outside of Corel. To get back in business I have to hit control-alt-delete and select the task manager and as soon as I do that, I am back in business. I have gotten quite fast at doing that, but such a hassle! I have a Kensington Pro Trackball mouse placed on my under desktop, pull out keyboard along with a standard mouse on my desk. Both are USB and both stop working when this happens. I have deleted my mouse drivers and downloaded and installed updated drivers, but that has not fixed this. I have Googled the problem and have not found a solution… hoping you might have the answer to my perplexing dilemma. 😊

This sounds like it may very well be a hardware problem, you should try swapping out both the mouse and keyboard and then monitor to see if it happens again. I suspect the USB cable on the mouse may have damage as I have seen this in the past with keyboard tray rails slicing the cable.

Also try using different USB ports, if you are using a USB Hub try plugging the devices directly into the computer.

Thank you so much for your reply! I have both a Kensington Expert Mouse which utilizes a usb port on my tower and a desktop mouse that uses and a desktop mouse that uses a port on a hub sitting on my desktop. Unfortunately, neither work when this happens and yet when I hit cntrl+alt+delete both reactivate. Such a strange problem, could it be a problem with my motherboard or perhaps a needed update for my motherboard?
